practical application & traditional methodologies of Oak graining culminating in the completion of a 4 panelled door in a high standard!
This course suits all levels as the methods that are used adapts to suit the students needs at the early stages of style development, helping with the progression of the students skills & knowledge of the subject.
Starting with mixing up glazes & grounds, in both oil & water, to practicing with the correct tools to get the desired shapes & structure of each stage in both mediums, this process allows the student, with my support and guidance, to get a feel for application and to confidently iron out mistakes & fine tune hand skills. a process that is enhanced by this individual, student led approach.
This student led approach, is central to the students individual development and is core to their daily "learning curve" of the what, why, when & how of this methodology.
After this intensive guided practice, the student is more confident and ready to "tackle" graining a door to a high standard, whilst still under tutorial guidance and support.
My style of teaching is to bring the student through each and every stage of this process, to show common mistakes made, to give advice on how to fix or avoid these, and to do so in a collaborative manor, on the journey towards achieving a fully beautifully Oak grained door.
After completing the course the student is armed with both practical, and academic knowledge, the skills to apply and amend mediums and the skills needed to achieve quality Oak graining in both oils and water leaving them with a sense of professional confidence and competence.

The student will draw from & use this training to start & complete a door, under my guidance.
